Each year IVR organizes an international congress which brings together the various international players in the field of inland navigation and insurance and related sectors. During the three-day congress IVR members are offered a huge network possibility and to take part in a workshop dedicated to technical and legal developments in the relevant areas. Guest speakers, guests and members get the opportunity to share their views and experiences, offering sufficient possibility to enter into discussions. In addition, the program includes multiple networking opportunities at special locations. The IVR Congress is known for its informal and friendly approach. Networking, knowledge sharing and encouraging cooperation between the different sectors represented are the central issues regarding the organization of this event.
A special partner program is organized for the partners of the conference participants during the official meetings. In addition to the joint activities and meetings, the participating partners are given sufficient space to plan the conference days as they wish.

Colloquium
The IVR organizes colloquia to promote the implementation of international conventions in the field of transport and liability law and the recommendation of international conditions and transport documents.
Since both current and future developments also have a significant impact on the technical aspects of the inland shipping sector and the associated financial consequences, the Loss Prevention Colloquium was introduced in 2024. During this event, various speakers addressed different developments in the sector from the perspective of damage prevention and technology, similar to a legal colloquium.
The IVR colloquia bring together the various international inland shipping and related sectors, providing members with a high-level networking opportunity.
